Take-A-Kid-Fishing-Day, sponsored by the Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association, will take place in Warwick, Saturday, June 16th. They hope to accommodate over 200 children from Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association. The kids will enjoy a morning of fishing on the bay, and an afternoon cookout.
New Tarpon studies shed light on that species’ behavior. Scientists from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Mote Marine Laboratory have established the fish travel longer distances than previously documented, and have connected their two main habitats, in southwest Florida and in the Florida Keys.
Keys captain lands 683.8 pound swordfish The catch was not eligible for state records because it was caught with an electric reel, but it surpassed a 612.75 fish caught in 1978. It is believed also to be the largest ever caught in Keys waters during daytime hours.
